Eden Hazard has joked that he’s ready to play on after ‘resting for the last three years’ at Real Madrid.

The Belgian star is at a crossroads in his career after it was announced that he’d leave Los Blancos by mutual consent at the end of last season.

Having started just four matches in all competitions last term and settling for a place on the bench for much of the two seasons before that, it was clear that Hazard’s days at the Santiago Bernabeu were numbered.

After reports suggested that Hazard may even retire from football, it’s been suggested that he could join brother, Kylian Hazard, with Belgian side RWD Molenbeek this summer.

But while the ex-Chelsea star couldn’t confirm what his plans would be, he did suggest that there’s no reason for him to feel that his legs are gone.

“Retirement? Honestly, I don’t know yet,” he said.

“After these three difficult years, I just want to spend time with my family and go on holiday like everyone else.

“It’s true that, in the last few days, I’ve read a lot of things about me, and a lot of nonsense.

“Going to Molenbeek with my brother? I don’t know if it’s stupid, we’ll see.

“I know I’m not giving the answers that are expected but that’s because, honestly, I don’t have them yet.

“Having said that, I can assure you that I am still capable of being a professional footballer.

“My body can take it. Besides, I’ve been resting for three years.”
