There’s a fresh transfer rumour doing the rounds this week that Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez should be hoping comes true.

Like always, there’s so much transfer speculation about potential incomings and outgoings at Stamford Bridge in the upcoming window.

Enzo Maresca, the newly-appointed Blues head coach, is inheriting a talented squad of players even before you add fresh faces.

Chelsea’s Enzo Fernnandez is a high-profile star he’ll be managing next season.

The 23-year-old midfielder really struggled for form during the 2023/24 campaign, so let’s hope the change of management coincides with him rediscovering his best levels.

Enzo Fernandez should love new Chelsea rumour

The Blues are linked with a Premier League star that should really excite Fernandez.

Journalist Uriel Iugt has stated on X that Chelsea are one of the clubs who are monitoring Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez. They and Paris Saint-Germain like the 24-year-old attacker, who’s keen to play more minutes.

Alvarez has been an important part of Man City’s squad for the last two years since joining Man City, scoring 36 goals in 103 appearances. However, the Argentine centre-forward has struggled to nail down a starting position, often playing a back-up role to Erling Haaland.

In terms of Chelsea’s interest in Alvarez, Fernandez should hope the speculation is true and that it leads to him moving to Stamford Bridge.

Alvarez is definitely the kind of intelligent striker that pass master Fernandez would love to find from deep.

On top of that, they play in the Argentine national side together, previously winning the World Cup. Also, they were teammates earlier in their careers at club level with River Plate.

What Enzo Fernandez once said about Julian Alvarez

You can see from previous comments that Fernandez and Alvarez have a great understanding on the pitch.

Fernandez commented on Alvarez via Football.London in 2023: “We have a connection with Juli because we played together since River and we know each other a lot. And he knows that when I’m in front, he has to make a move. He knows that and we always talk about it.”

“When we entered the camp for the first time, I gave him a hug and told him ‘look where we are. It’s what we always wanted, no?’ ”

It would be a huge lift for Chelsea, plus Fernandez, to sign Alavarez this summer.

He’s a clinical No 9 that could elevate the side.
