The Sun report that Ten Hag is taking no chances and will put an emphasis on building his squad’s stamina.

Pre-season testing is due to begin on July 3, for players who were not with their national team squads, as United look to build on their third place Premier League finish.

A source told the newspaper: “Last summer Erik had players doing press-ups and other  fitness forfeits to try and build spirit.

“This time it sounds like some might actually have their spirits broken!”
