Fabrizio Romano has cast doubt on Chelsea taking Todd Boehly’s reported advice when it comes to transfers this summer.

It is expected to be another busy summer as far as transfers are concerned, with the owners now needing to back yet another new manager.

Today could be the day that Enzo Maresca is announced as the new Chelsea boss, just over a week after they decided to part ways with Mauricio Pochettino.

Reports have already stated that the Blues are prepared to bring in as many as five new signings in order to give the incoming manager the best possible platform to succeed in his first Premier League job.

One signing they are reportedly considering making is a striker, with a big-name addition in this role being threatened for a number of transfer windows now.

The player who has most frequently been linked with that move is Victor Osimhen, who is expected to leave Napoli this summer following their dismal title defence.

Victor Osimhen was Todd Boehly’s top target

It was also claimed that the Nigerian was a key target as far as Boehly was concerned, with him actually being seen as the American’s top target.

However, Romano claimed on Twitter that at this stage the Blues are not looking to move for Osimhen.

He said: “Chelsea will sign new striker this summer as part of next season plans but no negotiations or talks taking place for Victor Osimhen, with or without Lukaku in the deal

“Chelsea are not planning to go for Osimhen as of now. Lukaku and Broja, expected to leave.”

The Blues will likely have taken note of how Nicolas Jackson actually produced quite a decent individual campaign in what was his first season in the Premier League.

Instead, many will be of the belief that if they are to strengthen this summer, they require doing so in other positions way more than up top.
