Chelsea players are just days away from making the trip back to the United States again to undergo the pre-season tour.

The Blues were unbeaten under Mauricio Pochettino last season, however the higer quality of team they are set to play this summer perhaps projects their heightened targets under Enzo Maresca.

If they are to reach those levels, it is likely that they will need more signings to add to their ranks ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.

The highlight addition so far is Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, with him playing the best football of his career under his new boss when they were both at Leicester City.

However, it could be another summer signing already brought in that may have the biggest impact straight away.

Chelsea confirm Tosin Adarabioyo will sign for the club from July 1, 2024 at Chelsea Training Ground on June 7, 2024 in Cobham, England.

Tosin Adarabioyo gets important new squad number

Tosin Adarabioyo was signed on a free transfer right at the start of the window, however the lack of price tag does not describe his ability.

Adarabioyo has reportedly impressed a lot in training already, and has begun to show leadership qualities that the club desperately need in the squad.

When Chelsea’s official website announced some changes to the shirt numbers, it became clear that the Englishman may be key in the club’s thinking going into next season.

He was handed the Number 4 shirt, suggesting that he may well be high up in the thinking for Maresca when picking his side.

Maresca to decide his side during pre-season

The pre-season tour of the United States could give an indication as to what the manager is thinking, with the first friendly against Wrexham being less than a week away.

If he was to start, his likely partner at the back would be Levi Colwill, who will be hoping his future is not at left-back like Pochettino seemed to see it.

With the likes of Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile all working hard in pre-season too, there will be plenty of competition for places at the back going into next season.
