Gareth Bale arguably betrayed Cristiano Ronaldo by naming Lionel Messi as the best player to ever win the Champions League.
The ex-Real Madrid star, who announced his retirement after the World Cup in Qatar, was asked the question ahead of the Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter Milan.

Bale was a long-time teammate of Ronaldo during their time together at the Santiago Bernabeu, spending five years in the same Real Madrid team.
In that time they won four Champions League titles together, plus a La Liga title.
However, that clearly didn’t mean much too Bale as he picked Barcelona legend Messi over the Al-Nassr star or any of his other Real Madrid teammates.
That decision from the Welsh football legend certainly got fans talking, with many saying that it cements Messi’s status as the greatest ever.
One said: “Bale knows the ball,” with another joking: “Bale bodied my idol Pendu.”
Another commented: “They all know it’s normal to have favourite but if you watch both player you will know who is the best.”
A fourth comment read: “I’ve never seen any Messi current or former teammate calling Ronaldo the best player.
While another added: “You just know most of the Real Madrid actually love Messi, but they are not able to say it publicly when they are with the club.”
