One Premier League player has admitted he was hoping his side would have beat Chelsea to one signing this summer.

The Blues have already begun to act when it comes to doing deals this summer as they look to give the best possible backing to new manager Enzo Maresca.

They have completed a deal for Tosin Adarabioyo on a free, after a number of top clubs looked to secure his services.

The club have also kept one eye on the players of the future, a key aspect of the Todd Boehly era so far.

It has been reported that they have agreed a deal to sign Pedro Lima, with his immediate future looking as if it will be with Strasbourg.

Matheus Cunha wanted Pedro Lima

It seems as if they were not the only top side interested in a deal, and Wolves have now been mentioned as one of those who were keen to bring him in.

This is via current player Matheus Cunha, who told Ge Globo that he was hoping his side would have been able to secure a deal.

He said: “I always think that I have been following football here, and Pedro Lima is a talent, he has a bright future. He is from Paraíba who comes to Recife, as happened to me, and has a very similar story. I wish him the best.

“I wanted him to be playing with me because I think Wolves were also interested. But well, he made his decision, Chelsea is a great club and I hope he plays and I hope to face him often.”

Cunha was one of the players who arguably enjoyed his time at Stamford Bridge more than any oppostion player last season.

The Brazilian scored a hat-trick when Wolves beat the Blues 4-2, in a result that brought arguably the lowest moment under former manager Mauricio Pochettino.

This will no doubt have been in thinking of a number of the decision makers when they decided to relieve him of his duties this summer.
