England are eyeing a place in the Euro U21 Championship final as they take on Israel aiming to maintain their flawless record this week.  

The Young Lions head into their first Euros semi-final in six years having won every single game at the tournament while not conceding a single goal.

Lee Carsley’s side backed up their group stage form by beating a strong Portugal side 1-0 thanks to a goal from Newcastle star Anthony Gordon. 

England are now on the brink of reaching the final of the competition for the first time since 2009.

They renew their rivalry with an Israel side that they have already beaten 2-0 at the tournament standing between them and the final.

This semi-final clash will take place on Wednesday, July 5.

After rotating in the final group game, England returned to a full-strength side with key players returning to the line-up last time out.

Curtis Jones, Angel Gomes and Morgan Gibbs-White were a few of the returnees and they are expected to keep their places for the huge semi-final. 

Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott, who was not in the squad at all against Portugal due to a reported family matter, is also back in contention.

England boss Carsley was delighted to have beaten on the competition’s favourites Portugal to reach the semi-final.

He said: “I definitely consider Portugal one of the best teams we have played.

“We had to show different parts of our game tonight; not only were we good in possession, what was most pleasing was the team spirit and the way they stuck together in the second half.”

Speaking about facing Israel again after their group stage meeting, he continued: “We found the game against Israel difficult. 

“They are such a compact, well-organised team and we will have to be at our best to beat them.”
