Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has not been afraid to use some of his players out of position this season.
For example, central defender Levi Colwill has played at left-back, while Ben Chilwell has started a bit further forward in more than one match.
Axel Disasi and Marc Cucurella have also started at right-back, though that has been due to the unavailability of Reece James, whom Chelsea could consider an offer for in the summer, and Malo Gusto.
There is another player who one ESPN pundit also feels is not being utilised properly despite how well he is doing this season.
Chelsea star has not found right position yet
Chelsea brought in a lot of players last summer, including Moises Caicedo, Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer.
The last of that trio has easily been the best footballer in Mauricio Pochettino‘s squad this season, with his manager saying as much.
In total, Palmer has scored 16 goals and provided 12 assists in 35 appearances for Chelsea.

Yet Gab Marcotti does not actually think that the 21-year-old has found his best position. Speaking about him on ESPN, he said: “What I would say about his numbers, there are a lot of penalties in there, and I also don’t think he’s found his right position at Chelsea.
“It’s not his fault, but when he plays wide on the right, he comes inside all the time, which is fine. Maybe he should be playing No.10, but then that puts an onus on the right-back, who’s Malo Gusto, so he is dealing with I think a lot of dysfunction around him and he takes everything in stride. So that’s certainly very encouraging.
“I’d love to see what he could do with a better assembled team around him, on a team that actually functions and produces the way the manager wants.”
Cole Palmer names his best position
Palmer has mostly played on the right this season. The man himself says there, but also the No.10 role, are his best two positions.
“Right wing and No.10 are my best two positions, I would say,” he told Chelsea’s official website after his £45m move from Manchester City.
Chelsea’s attack is quite a fluid one and Palmer is getting the job done from the right-hand side. That is all that matters, so his starting position is probably not a big issue right now.
Getting him on the ball more, though, could help Pochettino’s side, so perhaps the England international should eventually be moved into the spot just behind the striker.
