Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo has been speaking about his move to Stamford Bridge earlier this summer.

Tosin Adarabioyo was Chelsea‘s first signing of the summer, with the 26-year-old joining from west London rivals Fulham.

Adarabioyo played in the Blues’ 4-1 defeat against Celtic on Saturday, a result that would have worried some supporters.

However, before the game, he was adamant that Chelsea fans would see Enzo Maresca‘s style in full flow soon.

In fact, Adarabioyo believes Chelsea will be ready for Manchester City, who are their first opponents of the new Premier League season.

Tosin Adarabioyo on Chelsea move

Unsurprisingly, Adarabioyo had attracted interest from other Premier League clubs before he joined Chelsea.

He was a free transfer with experience in the English top flight, making him quite an attractive proposition.

When asked why he chose Chelsea over other Premier League clubs, Adarabioyo told The Sun (page 54, 28/07/2024): “When it came down to it, to hear the project that’s going on here, it’s amazing. It’s an amazing project, an amazing club, so for me it was a no-brainer.

“That last season, there was a lot of talk, but I managed to keep it out of my head. I’m happy to be here and happy to be settled. I was fully focused with Fulham until the end of the season and then conversations happened.”

Newcastle were one club who were keen on Adarabioyo but, in the end, Chelsea were able to beat the Magpies to his signature.

Tosin Adarabioyo and Marc Guiu’s performances against Celtic

Marc Guiu is another new Chelsea signing who featured in the Blues’ 4-1 defeat against Celtic.

It was game a where Guiu managed to impress, with the Spaniard’s first touch being neat and tidy, while he also managed to get quite a few shots away.

Guiu is now set to stay with the Chelsea first team, which could perhaps stop the club from buying another centre-forward this summer.

As for Adarabioyo, he was nowhere near as impressive, though the same can be said about the whole of Chelsea’s defence after they let four goals in.

A couple of balls in over the top, and Adarabioyo and the rest of the Chelsea backline were completely taken out of the game.

If they play like that against Manchester City, then the Maresca era at Stamford Bridge could get off to a really ugly start.
