Chelsea fans all seemed to come to the same conclusion after watching their record signing Moises Caicedo play for his nation last night.

The 22-year-old was starting his first game of the international break for Ecuador, and he was up against former Blue Jorginho and his Italy side.

The reigning European Champions picked up a 2-0 win, with the South Americans disappointing as a whole.

The loudest cheer from their side was in the second half when Chelsea youngster Kendry Paez was introduced from the bench.

Caicedo for Ecuador is quite the different player from the one who Chelsea fans have begun to get used to at Stamford Bridge this season.

Chelsea fans enjoy Caicedo for Ecuador

He features in a position where there is often more freedom given to him to create chances for his nation.

Blues supporters were quick to make the comparison between the two versions of the same player, with many wishing that they saw more of the one who featured for his country.

One user said: “Moisés Caicedo that roams is the best version of Caicedo. He reminds me of that every time I watch Ecuador.”

Another added: “Premium Ball-winning, high IQ, facilitator 8. Ala Wijnaldum. He’s being caged as a 6 but can do it to a high lvl. That’s on us for misprofiling him.”

A third said: “We need Lavia to get back ASAP so he can play as a box to box just like he did as Brighton.”

Pochettino struggling to get best out of Caicedo

Mauricio Pochettino is still yet to get the best out of a midfield duo that cost more than any other one in the world.

Enzo Fernandez has been used in a number of different roles, with him at times featuring as part of the attack in order to incorporate other players. This of course is where he does not play his best football, and supporters have not been shy to point out to the manager where they think he would perform at his strongest level.
