Chelsea playing in the Premier League could work to their advantage in their pursuit of one footballer this summer.

It has been a busy week for Chelsea in the transfer window.

The Blues signed Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City on Tuesday after landing Marc Guiu from Barcelona.

The two join Omari Kellyman and Tosin Adarabioyo, who have also signed for Chelsea during this transfer window.

It is quite a bit of business that they have done, and the club do not look finished yet.

Serie A club do not want to sell to rivals this summer

While Chelsea have brought in Adarabioyo from west London rivals Fulham, they could still sign another defender before the market closes.

Fabrizio Romano claims that the Blues are interested in Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori.

And according to the transfer expert, Bologna would rather sell Calafiori to a foreign club than to Juventus, who are also keen on the 22-year-old.

Discussing Calafiori on X, Romano said: “Arsenal and Chelsea remain both interested in Riccardo Calafiori, as revealed last week. Both clubs have explored conditions of the deal, expensive as Basel will get almost 50% of the fee.

“Calafiori gave green light to Juventus but Bologna preference is to sell abroad.”

As per CaughtOffside’s Daily Briefing, it could take €45m (£38m) to get the Italian out of Bologna this summer.

Who will Bologna end up selling Riccardo Calafiori to?

It is not a shock to hear that Bologna would rather sell Calafiori to a team abroad than to Juventus.

They are now rivals for Champions League qualification, with Juventus finishing just three points ahead of Bologna in third last season.

Both teams managed to make into Europe’s elite competition, but the latter will not want to strengthen the former for the 2024/25 campaign by handing them Calafiori.

However, with Juventus being arguably the biggest club in Italy, they may very well end up being Calafiori’s preference, so it would not be a surprise if Bologna did go on to sell him to their rivals.
