Chelsea are reportedly interested in Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee ahead of the summer transfer window.

Joshua Zirkzee is one forward who Chelsea are currently following, according to Tutto Juve.

The same outlet claims that Juventus, Manchester United, AC Milan and Barcelona are also tracking the 22-year-old, so the Blues could face a lot of competition for his signature.

Elsewhere, a report from Tuttomercatoweb says that Zirkzee could cost up to €60m (£51m).

He has been bright this season, scoring nine goals in 24 Serie A appearances for Bologna.

Chelsea following Joshua Zirkzee

Chelsea are following Zirkzee and other strikers, as they are in need of another centre-forward ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Having allowed Armando Broja to join Fulham on loan last month, his long-term future at the club looks to be in doubt. If he leaves Stamford Bridge permanently, that would leave Nicolas Jackson as the only recognised No.9 in Mauricio Pochettino‘s squad.

You then have to question whether the Senegal international is the right man to lead the line for Chelsea next season.

Jackson has scored seven goals in the Premier League this term and has played up front and on the left flank. All of that shows that he does have something to offer the team. But is he prolific enough to be the Blues’ main frontman again in the 2024/25 campaign? Probably not.

That applies to Zirkzee as well, who is also still 22 and developing as a forward. We do not think it makes much sense for Chelsea to bring him in, then.

It needs to be Jackson and another more proven striker leading the line for Chelsea next season, otherwise the Blues could have another difficult Premier League campaign. They currently sit 10th in the standings.

All in all, then, this one looks quite unlikely. You suspect the club have other players higher on the list than Zirkzee.
