Chelsea are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper despite signing Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic only a year ago.

Petrovic’s future at Chelsea is now in doubt, while Robert Sanchez could have a fight on his hands to be the team’s No.1.

Goalkeeper is not the only area of Chelsea’s squad that could be strengthened before the transfer window closes.

The Blues are still yet to sign a new first-team striker, so that is one position that could be addressed ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Victor Osimhen has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. However, Chelsea accept that Osimhen could join PSG this summer.

Chelsea interested in Juventus’ Wojciech Szczesny

Chelsea could turn to a former Arsenal player in their bid to strengthen between the goal posts.

According to TuttoJuve, Chelsea have identified Wojciech Szczesny as a goalkeeper target. The Poland international is now 34 and his contract expires next year, so Juventus may be open to selling him.

In the eyes of one of his former goalkeeping coaches, Guido Nanni, who spoke to TuttoJuve about him a couple of years ago, he is a “world-class” No.1.

Chelsea are looking for a very specific type of goalie. According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea want a goalkeeper with good distribution.

Wojciech Szczesny’s hate for Tottenham

It may not take long for Szczesny to win over Chelsea fans who may have some doubts about him should he join Enzo Maresca‘s side.

Being a former Arsenal player, Szczesny obviously does not have the best relationship with Tottenham Hotspur supporters.

In fact, after Juventus knocked out Tottenham in the 2017/18 Champions League, he revealed how much he loved watching Spurs’ support go quiet during his side’s second-leg tie against them at Wembley.

“I enjoyed it a lot,” he was quoted as saying by The Guardian. “There were a couple [of Tottenham] fans — very vocal — next to my bench, who went missing after the 80th minute, so yeah, I enjoyed it. Plus winning at Wembley is always special.”

If Chelsea do go on to sign Szczesny and he continues to make fun out of their fierce London rivals, some fans will probably start to like him. He did also tell The Guardian that he still loves Arsenal, though, so his potential arrival could be quite a controversial one.
