Chelsea have an exciting youngster on their books that has reportedly made ‘huge strides’ so far this summer.

There’s no doubt that one of the best things about Chelsea in recent times has been their ability to develop young talent, even when there’s such chaos in other areas of the club.

Fans have seen a constant production line of superb youngsters emerge from the academy in recent decades.

The current squad includes academy graduates such as Reece James, Conor Gallagher and Levi Colwill. Incidentally, The Telegraph claims that Enzo Maresca plans to use Colwill at centre-back next season.

Tyrique George is stepping up at Chelsea

There’s some positive reports in the media regarding Chelsea youngster Tyrique George.

According to The Mirror in its print edition (21 July), George is the talk of Chelsea’s academy and is tipped for a breakthrough campaign under Maresca.

The report claims that the 18-year-old attacker has made ‘huge strides’ this summer.

In addition, scouts have been looking at the teenage winger, who’s still got another three years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge.

George is still yet to make his first-team debut for Chelsea, but he was in dazzling form last season for the academy sides. The left-winger ended up with 14 goals and 10 assists in 34 games across all competitions.

Tyrique George included on pre-season trip

Chelsea confirmed this week that George is part of the 28-man squad that has travelled to the United States for the summer pre-season tour.

George is in Chelsea’s squad for pre-season, so can he now make the most of this big opportunity?

It would be great to see the fast forward get a runout in some of the five fixtures the club are scheduled to play during their overseas tour.

If he wants to break into the senior squad in his favourite position, he may have to get passed high-profile players such as Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk.
