The interest in one of Chelsea’s midfielders now appears to be ramping up in this summer transfer window.

There’s actually a lot of the depth in the Chelsea midfield when you look around the squad, which is why not everyone was included on the club’s pre-season tour in the United States.

Enzo Maresca’s side kickstarted the trip to the US with a 2-2 draw against Wrexham on Thursday.

Interestingly, Christopher Nkunku and Lesley Ugochukwu, who both featured as attacking midfielders, got on the scoresheet. Speaking via Chelsea’s official website, Ugochukwu shared what Maresca told him against Wrexham.

Torino join race for Cesare Casadei

Blues midfielder Cesare Casadei, who’s currently back in England after being left off the pre-season tour, is now being strongly linked with a potential transfer.

First up, Sky Sports Italy claimed earlier this week that Fiorentina could be interested in signing Casadei amid suggestions he could leave on loan.

Now, TuttoMercatoWeb states that Torino has also entered the running for Chelsea’s Casadei.

It is explained that the 21-year-old central midfielder is now an option for Torino, albeit Serie A rivals Fiorentina remain ahead in the transfer race.

TMW adds that Chelsea would be prepared to sell Casadei on a permanent deal despite the fact he only joined two years ago. As it’s stands, their valuation is above €20m (£17m).

Cesare Casadei should get another loan

The best route Chelsea could take with Casadei next season is to give him another loan spell. Preferably, they wouldn’t interrupt this one midway through the year like they did when he was at Leicester City last term.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano on X back in January, Chelsea believe Casadei has ‘huge potential’. He’s not quite ready yet for the first team at Stamford Bridge, though.

A move to the Italian division next season could be a decent fit for the youngster if he’s guaranteed to play regular minutes.
