Manchester United’s bid for Mason Mount rejected – Manchester United’s bid for Mason Mount has been flatly refused by Chelsea, talkSPORT understands.

The Blues value their homegrown midfielder at £70million, with the star’s current deal expiring this time next year.

However the Red Devils have now submitted a bid of £40million, falling well short of Chelsea’s asking price.

As a result, the Blues have rejected the offer, meaning Man United will need to up their bid should they want to add the England star to their ranks.

Earlier this month talkSPORT was told Mount had agreed personal terms with the Red Devils.

Erik ten Hag had pushed to get the deal done imminently, with the Dutchman seeing the 24-year-old as a priority signing alongside finding a new striker, with Tottenham’s Harry Kane being a leading target.

However it appears their pursuit of Mount won’t be as easy as they had hoped, despite them originally being confident of agreeing a lower fee and the Blues being open to selling him.

Ten Hag recently urged the United board to bring in ‘better players’ as he pleaded for reinforcements.

But it remains to be seen whether he’ll be able to get Mount playing in Man United red next season.

Meanwhile, talkSPORT understands Man United have been given a boost in their pursuit of Napoli’s Kim Min-jae, with the star stalling on signing a new contract.
