Chelsea have reportedly set their sights on a young prospect at a Premier League club, but it looks like they’ll miss out on signing him this summer.

There’s been a quite obvious focus at Chelsea in the last two years on recruiting quality young players.

That trend has already continued into this summer, too.

For example, the Blues have already signed Omari Kellyman and Marc Guiu, both of whom are aged 18.

Wes Okoduwa has rejected Chelsea to sign new Wolves deal

The Express & Star claims that Wolves youngster Wes Okoduwa, 16, has turned down a move to Chelsea by committing his future at Molineux Stadium.

It is understood that the teenage defender has penned a fresh contract with Wolves to become a first-year scholar.

Okoduwa is yet to make his first-team debut for Wolves, but he featured on the bench during several Premier League matches last season. At the age of 16, it’s quite an achievement.

The English right-back is certainly a young rising talent to keep an eye out on.

The Secret Scout reported via X in June that Chelsea we’re actively pursuing a deal to sign Okoduwa. They felt like he was the perfect signing for their Under-18s team, so had started negotiating a potential transfer.

Instead, Okoduwa is staying put in Wolverhampton.

One Blues youngster to watch out for next season

The Chelsea Chronicle has attempted to pick out an academy player that could have a big 2024/25 season.

Tyrique George, who’s just 18, is a Blues youngster with serious quality.

The English winger is yet to make his senior debut for Chelsea, but he shined at various age levels last season.

According to the The Daily Mail, George is likely to be part of Chelsea’s senior group that travels to the United States for pre-season this summer.

Let’s hope that he can catch the eye of Enzo Maresca.
