Chelsea still look keen on signing Euro 2024 star Nico Williams this summer.

Last month, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claimed that Chelsea have no plans to trigger Nico Williams’ release clause.

That may still very well be the case. At the same time, though, the Blues’ interest still appears to be there.

Romano has also reported that Barcelona fear that Chelsea could still make a play for Williams before the transfer window closes.

The winger was one of the standout performers at Euro 2024, scoring in the final against England on Sunday.

Are Chelsea going to try and sign Nico Williams this summer?

Again, Williams is clearly a player who is on Chelsea‘s radar and it is not hard to see why.

At the Euros, the 22-year-old scored two goals and provided one assist in six appearances. According to WhoScored, he also completed 2.2 dribbles per game, which was the second-highest average in his squad.

Williams also did well at club level last season, coming up with 16 goal contributions in 31 La Liga matches.

It is no surprise, then, that he is attracting interest from the likes of Chelsea and Barcelona.

As per talkSPORT, Chelsea are keen on signing Williams, but the Blues are likely to wait to see what happens between the Spain international and Barcelona before deciding whether to take their interest further.

Williams would be such an incredible signing for Chelsea this summer.

His performances at Euro 2024 alone prove that. Therefore, they should not be waiting around to see what Barcelona do.

The club should really be on the offensive for his signature. For whatever reason, be it the finances involved in the deal or the fact that Barcelona are sniffing around, Chelsea seem reluctant to make a move for Williams.

Let’s see if their current approach to this potential transfer changes in the coming weeks.
