Journalist Simon Phillips has now claimed that Chelsea are analysing their targets to sign an attacker at the end of this season.
He told his Substack that the club were seriously looking at Atletico Bilbao star Nico Williams, who has racked up some impressive stats so far this season.
Williams has emerged as one of the most talented wingers in Europe, with him still being just 21 years of age.

He has been the subject of reported interest from a number of top clubs in Europe, and now it seems that Chelsea have taken theirs to a new level.
Phillips has claimed that the Blues have had scouts watching the player all season, and they are seriously considering bringing him in.
Chelsea considering Williams to replace Sterling
He said: “The other name WOULD be a direct replacement for Sterling, and I understand we are now seriously looking at signing Nico Williams from Bilbao.
“Chelsea have had scouts on him all season watching the 21-year-old’s performances on the left wing. He can also play on the right.

“Williams has impressed scouts with his 10 assists and 4 goals in 26 appearances off the wing. As always, these will not be the only two names being looked at. There is also a question mark over the future of Noni Madueke, so something could happen there too.”
It has been claimed that Raheem Sterling is one of the players who is surplus to requirements as far as some of the owners are concerned.
This is despite him being the only attacker with any real form of experience at the top of the game, something the club are really lacking at this stage.
If the plan is to move him on, Mauricio Pochettino should look to utlise a number of his other players in the squad for the rest of the season.
One of those is Mykhailo Mudryk, who showed earlier this week that he can make a real statement if given playing time.
