Journalist Nathan Gissing has shared that one senior member of staff is now set to leave Chelsea at the end of this month.

He took to Twitter to state that Lead Performance Physiotherapist Steve Hughes is going to be leaving at the end of the month, with him being a part of the club for nearly 23 years in various roles.

There has been a vast turnover of staff since American Todd Boehly and his consortium took over the club two years ago, with it for sure being a new era in the club’s history.

This has coincided with some of the poorest form on the pitch in recent memory, and a far cry from the successes that led to the Champions League victory back in 2021.

One of the most notable members of staff who departed was Petr Cech, who obviously has a career behind him as a legendary player.

He recently came out and clarified why he left the club, stating that his beliefs were just a different direction to where the new owners were looking to go.

He said: “Chelsea lead physiotherapist Steve Hughes is set to leave the club at the end of this month after nearly 23 years at the club.

“The news doesn’t come as a surprise to Chelsea, as the club announced (via email) to first-team members in September he would resign in February.”

It is hopeful that given the fact it has been known at the club for a while now that he is going to be leaving, they have used the time to scout out the required replacement in order to see them continue to not fall behind some of their rivals.
