There is a possibility that West Ham United beat London rivals Chelsea to two signings this summer.

Chelsea and West Ham are both interested in Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran. However, Duran prefers West Ham over Chelsea.

The Blues are now likely to end up signing another striker, with the likes of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres still being linked to Stamford Bridge.

Duran, though, does not seem to be the only player that Chelsea and West Ham are both after.

While the former may miss out on a player or two to their London rivals, they are still having quite a productive transfer window after bringing in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Tosin Adarabioyo to name a couple of their summer signings so far.

West Ham make bid for Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville

Chelsea have been tracking Crysencio Summerville, but the Blues face competition for his signature if they want to sign him.

One other Premier League club who are interested in the Leeds United winger are West Ham.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Hammers have already made a bid for him. On X, the Italian journalist posted: “West Ham have submitted initial proposal to Leeds United for Crysencio Summerville. Talks took place also on player side, but still not close, considered very expensive.”

To convince Leeds to sell this summer, Chelsea may have to offer £40m for Summerville.

Chelsea can still win race for Crysencio Summerville

If Chelsea really want to sign Summerville, then they should be able to beat West Ham and Julen Lopetegui to his signature.

A £40m fee should not be too much of a problem for Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, while the club can offer the 22-year-old some form of European football after qualifying for the Europa Conference League.

Before Chelsea bring in another left winger, they may have to do something with Raheem Sterling or Mykhailo Mudryk.

Enzo Maresca would surely struggle to keep three left wingers of their quality all happy. Other than that, there is not too much stopping Chelsea from signing Summerville if that is the wide attacker they are desperate to bring to the Bridge.
