The 2023/24 season did not exactly go to plan for Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku.

In total, Christopher Nkunku made just 11 appearances in the Premier League, with only two of those being starts.

He did manage to score three goals, which is not bad for someone who was only able to start two games, but it was a disappointing campaign overall for the 26-year-old because of injuries.

Nkunku is now said to be attracting interest from other clubs.

However, Chelsea are unlikely to force the Frenchman out of Stamford Bridge and are expecting big things from him next season.

Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku prediction

Again, Nkunku was only able to score a few goals for Chelsea last season after having to deal with a couple of injury problems.

The France international, though, is fit again. And according to journalist Ben Jacobs, his club are confident that he can hit double figures next term.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jacobs said: “Chelsea have got faith in Nicolas Jackson, which might mean that they do lean a little bit younger, because they feel like there’s a lot of players that will chip in. You’ve also got Christopher Nkunku, who can play as a false nine in that central position.

“And the belief within Chelsea is that because of his unfortunate injuries and his lack of game time last season, this coming season is going to see a fit Nkunku get into double figures. If [Cole] Palmer gets into double figures and Jackson gets into double figures, then suddenly you can buy younger.”

Can Christopher Nkunku reach double figures at Chelsea next season?

Nkunku’s goal record at former club RB Leipzig was very good.

For example, in his last season there, the Chelsea star scored 23 goals in 36 appearances. During his penultimate campaign in Germany, he netted 35 times in 52 outings.

The above shows that Nkunku is a goalscorer when he is fit. If the former Paris Saint-Germain player can stay injury-free next season, he should be able to score at least 15 goals for Enzo Maresca‘s side.

Do that, and it will really increase Chelsea’s chances of finishing in the top four and returning to the Champions League.
