Journalist Fabrizio Romano has just provided an update on the future of one Chelsea player.

Carney Chukwuemeka, 20, is a Blues star whose future is a popular topic for discussion in the transfer rumour mill this summer.

The young midfielder has played just 27 first-team matches since joining Chelsea from Aston Villa two years ago. Admittedly, bad luck with injuries has been a factor in this.

Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that AC Milan may be interested in signing Chelsea’s Chukweumeka in this transfer window.

Now, Romano has weighed in with what he’s heard about the Blues youngster.

Chelsea really don’t want to loan out Carney Chukwuemeka

Romano has reported that Chelsea are against the idea of sending Chukwuemeka out on loan next season.

Apparently, the club are happy with the 20-year-old Englishman. It doesn’t sound like there’s any chance he’ll be allowed a temporary move elsewhere.

There would need to be a strong offer from an interested buyer for the Blues to let him leave.

Romano said via his YouTube channel: “Let me clarify that for Carney Chukwuemeka we have many rumours about many clubs, but what I can tell you is the message coming from Chelsea is very clear.

“You remember we had many messages on Levi Colwill joining Bayern. I always told you he is untouchable for Chelsea, not for sale. On Carney Chukwuemeka, the story is that Chelsea have no intention to let the player go on loan. This is the position of Chelsea.

“Then only permanent transfer in case they receive a good proposal. Otherwise, they are very happy to keep the player at the club, very satisfied with the player, his skills, his attitude, so Chelsea would be very happy to keep Carney.

“If they receive a very good proposal, the story could be different but has to be a permanent transfer.

“Chelsea at the moment are not keen on a loan move.”

Don’t upset Blues supporters

If Chukwuemeka is sold by Chelsea this summer, we predict that there would be a huge backlash from the fanbase.

The attacking midfielder is a big talent who’s shown glimpses of his quality. Ultimately, he just needs more minutes to find a rhythm and impact the Blues line-up.

It would be great to see him get a proper look-in at the start of next season under a new head coach.
