Mason Mount was one of the biggest signings of the 2023 summer transfer window after joining Manchester United from Chelsea.

Chelsea sold Mason Mount to Manchester United for an initial £55m fee, which was financially a very good deal for them.

While supporters were sad to see Mount go, with the attacking midfielder coming through the club’s youth system, he had entered the final year of his contract.

Ultimately, Chelsea had no choice but to sell him in the end. And given his struggles at United, it is starting to look like a really good decision.

The current view at Stamford Bridge is that Conor Gallagher is a better player than Mount.

Manchester United’s stance on Mason Mount

Mount had a disappointing debut season at Old Trafford, but that was largely down to injury. In total, the 25-year-old was only able to make five starts in the Premier League.

Considering that and the fact that he was such a big investment, United should be prepared to give him more time.

However, it looks like the Red Devils are already starting to run out of patience with the former Chelsea academy player.

According to HITC, United are open to offers for Mount despite having only signed the Englishman a year ago.

Speaking about his transfer back in May, Craig Burley thought Mount joining United was a terrible move.

Chelsea should not re-sign Mason Mount

Some Chelsea supporters may be open to the idea of Mount returning to Stamford Bridge and being part of Enzo Maresca‘s group.

He was obviously a big player for Chelsea during his time there, helping the club to win the Champions League back in 2021.

However, the Blues have truly moved on since his departure. They have the likes of Cole Palmer, Christopher Nkunku, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez for the No.10 and midfield positions. Therefore, a player like Mount is probably not needed in their squad right now.
