Newcastle fans are over the moon with sporting director Dan Ashworth amid talk of signing Tino Livramento.
The Southampton star looks set to make the move to St. James’ Park this summer for the low fee of £12million.
According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs with Newcastle keen on signing a new right-back.
Livramento has had a horror campaign after missing much of it through an ACL injury.
But prior to his injury, he was regarded as one of the best young full-backs in the Premier League and was playing consistently at the age of 18.
And Newcastle fans are in awe of sporting director Ashworth if he can pull off such a deal.
One fan said: “Has anyone ever done a statue for a director of football before?”
Another wrote: “This is an insanely good deal if we get it done.”
A third said: “£12m for Livramento is an absolute steal, amazed more clubs aren’t in for him.”
This fan posted: “Exceptionally smart business by Ashworth and co. again if they can get him over the line.
“Poaching young PL proven talents from relegated teams at cut-price deals – top recruitment strategy. £12m would be a bargain.”
While this supporter said: “With Kieran Trippier into his early 30’s, Livramento for depth now and then future first team [right-back] is a great buy at £12m.
“Dan Ashworth was employed because he’s a top sporting director & he’s already showing his worth.”
Newcastle are also closing in on the signing of Sandro Tonali this summer from AC Milan.
The midfielder has accepted personal terms for a fee in the region of £52m plus bonuses.
It will be some statement signing to pinch one of Italy’s best young midfielders from AC Milan.
And manager Eddie Howe also has plans to sign James Ward-Prowse from Southampton in what could be a double swoop, including Livramento.
But it is the ex-Chelsea academy starlet currently in his sights in what would be a fine acquisition for the money quoted.
