90s hitmaker looks unrecognisable after ditching her famous bob for long wavy curls – can you guess who it is?

Hitmaker Shanice looked unrecognisable in a recent snap – 31 years after her top tune I Love Your Smile.

In the shot posted to her Instagram, she grinned as she posed with long, wavy curls and a fringe, also sporting red lipstick.

The Nineties popstar, 49, once favoured a short bob, which featured in the music video for I Love Your Smile.

Shanice broke through onto the music scene in 1987, releasing her first album Discovery at the age of 14.

The star, whose full name is Shanice Lorraine Wilson-Knox, was popular with fans and garnered two top 10 R&B hits from the album as a result.

Shanice achieved further success with the songs Silent Prayer, Saving Forever for You and When I Close My Eyes after signing with Motown records in 1991.

The star was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania but later moved to LA with her mother Crystal and Aunt Penni.

They made the move as her mother and aunt were hoping to pursue music careers there.

But Shanice was the one who actually made the move into singing and pop music, encouraged by her relatives.

When she was eight, she was in a KFC advert with Ella Fitzgerald, later going on to appear on Star Search at the age of 11.

The singer’s voice has been used on several film soundtracks including Pocahontas and The Meteor Man.

She also did backing vocals for Toni Braxton on her tune Un-Break My Heart.

The star has been married to actor and comedian Flex Alexander for 23 years- after they tied the knot in February 2000.

They are parents to Shekinah Knox, 21, and Elijah Alexander Knox, 18.

The mother-of-two still likes to make music and perform and released new tune He Won’t in 2019.

Speaking about her career in 2017, she told Eurweb: ‘I’ve always tried to stay current and so when the music started changing I changed with the music ’cause I still stay true to who I am but I always said I never want to sound like, dated, or anything like that.

‘So I always try to stay fresh and I enjoy a lot of the new stuff that’s out right now. So that was never an issue. The issue was when I got pregnant.

‘I started working on my album and when they found out I was pregnant, I got dropped. I was on a major label and I feel like that was taken away from me because I was pregnant. Because of the timing of it. I’m five months pregnant. I started working on my music.’

She had hoped to head back to the studio and was devastated to have been dropped by the label.

The star wanted to have kids and then go and perform again, which she now does.
