Lisa Marie and Presley had accompanied Austin on much of the publicity tour for Elvis and the trio had grown close during filming of the biopic.

After watching Elvis, Priscilla raved about Baz Luhrmann’s vision and Austin’s performance as the King of Rock and Roll, to whom she was married to for just over six years.

The film chronicles the life and career of Elvis from his early days as a child growing up in Mississippi to his ascent as a rock and roll icon and movie star, along with his complex relationship with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

The news broke on Friday that Lisa Marie had died at the age of 54, hours after she suffered a cardiac arrest at her home in Calabasas, California.

She had been rushed to a hospital in critical condition and was said to be in a coma following a ‘full cardiac arrest’ shortly after she had been complaining about stomach pains, according to TMZ.

Priscilla, who was at her daughter’s side, said in a statement: ‘It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.

‘She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers. At this time there will be no further comment,’ the statement continued.

Lisa Marie’s life was tumultuous with five stints in rehab for cocaine and opioid abuse, four failed marriages, losing her son to suicide and a fierce custody battle over her twin girls with an ex-husband she accused of having child pornography.
