Things got very awkward between Sunrise co-hosts Natalie Barr and Matt Shirvington on Wednesday morning.
As the pair chopped onions as part of a live segment about the new no-tear vegetables hitting supermarkets soon, former Olympian Matt, 44, left Nat gobsmacked when he said he was ‘getting a tingle’ in his eyes from the process.
‘We’re gonna chop! Just to test the theory here,’ Natalie told viewers as they spoke to Woolworths general manager for Fruit & Veg Paul Turner during the cross.
‘I’m getting a tingle, Paul. I’m getting a tingle,’ Matt joked.
‘You’re what? You’re not!’ she said.

‘No, I’m not,’ Matt quickly added.
Both agreed the onions didn’t affect their eyes but tasted ‘sweet’.
Matt was announced as David ‘Kochie’ Koch’s replacement on Sunrise last month.
