Britney Spears tell-all memoir ‘delayed by FOUR MONTHS after lawyers for her exes Justin Timberlake and Colin Farrell contested claims about past romances’

  • Timberlake, 42, and Farrell, 47, have had lawyers vetting contents of book
  • Spears was linked to Timberlake from 1999-2002, and to Farrell in 2003
  • The Woman In Me is expected to arrive in stores October 24

The publication of Britney Spears’ forthcoming memoir The Woman In Me has faced four months in delays as result of avoiding litigation over the singer’s claims about her former romances with Justin Timberlake and Colin Farrell.

Sources told The Sun Monday that claims made in the book by the Grammy-winning pop star, 41, about both Timberlake, 42, and Farrell, 47, drew legal concern from attorneys representing both men.

Attorneys for both men said they would pursue litigation against Spears if certain passages from the book were not removed prior to publishing, sources told the outlet.

‘Lawyers demanded to see her book in advance and were adamant that some of the revelations were removed,’ an insider told the outlet. ‘There are still plenty of gobsmacking tales but Justin and Colin were conscious about what could be said about them.’

The Oops!…I Did It Again artist was linked to Timberlake from 1999 to 2002, and pictured with Farrell in 2003, amid rumors of a romance. Farrell denied they had dated, according to the report.

Sources told The Sun Monday that claims made in the book by Spears about both Timberlake, 42, and Farrell, 47, drew legal concern from attorneys representing both men

The insider said that ‘the legal process meant the publication was held up by four months as discussions went back and forth about what could be included.

‘But that has finally now been settled and her autobiography is all ready to go.’

A separate insider told the publication that the book, which arrives October 24, will present a ‘brilliant and heartfelt’ accounting of the Grammy-winner’s life after years of making headlines amid personal turmoil and family issues.

‘It has given Britney the chance to tell her own story,’ the insider said, ‘which certainly hasn’t been easy but which will be incredibly enlightening for her fans.’

The book will also go into detail about the longtime conservatorship Spears lived under that father Jamie Spears controlled from 2008 until 2021.

The book’s publisher Gallery Books summarizes it as ‘a brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith and hope’.

Spears announced she was writing a book in February of 2022 in an Instagram post.

‘Well I’m writing a book at the moment and as it’s actually healing and therapeutic… it’s also hard bringing up past events in my life … I’ve never been able to express openly!!!’ she said.

She finished the writing process a year ago, but the release of the book had been held up by paper shortages the publishing industry was dealing with.

The Toxic artist addressed fans on the status of the forthcoming tome, as well as the delays, via social media this past May.

‘I almost feel like my life in the business has always been that girl at school who was bullied and laughed at!!!’ she said. ‘But in my case there is no superior person to set it straight!!!’

She continued: ‘I think some people are wanting to hear my story … either through a book or what have you??? I’ve had to stop a couple of times!!! It may take me a year, maybe longer who knows … to share my story !!!’
