Also among the celebrity guests were the likes of TV presenter Naomi Isted and swimmer Michael Gunning.

The stars were attending a special screening of the Bridgerton prequel Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, which is slated for release on May 4.

The Netflix spin-off show will chart Charlotte’s rise to power and pivotal marriage to King George III.

India Amarteifio is starring as the young version of Queen Charlotte, originally portrayed by Golda Rosheuvel in Bridgerton.

Netflix released a teaser trailer for the six-part series last month, documenting the romance between Charlotte and King George (Corey Mylchreest).

The clip opens with young Charlotte asking her older brother why she’s been selected to marry into royalty.

He tells her: ‘Charlotte, there are worse fates than marrying the King of England.’

Her future mother-in-law explains her duties as a member of the royal family: ‘As many babies as possible for my son.’

Young Queen Charlotte attempts to escape by climbing a garden wall, where she meets her betrothed King George.

He says: ‘Hello my lady, are you in need of assistance of some kind?’

To which Queen Charlotte responds: ‘I am quite fine thank you, you can go back inside and wait.’

The two go back and forward, with Charlotte not willing to give up the reason she is trying to climb the wall.

It is then revealed George is the king as he announces: ‘I refuse when that lady is trying to go over a wall so that she does not have to marry me.’

Though Charlotte is not set on the chosen marriage, George aims to win her over: ‘I realise you have no reason to like me, but if you will give me one evening of your time, it might make you hate me a little bit less.’

Clips in the trailer show the pair getting married and sharing their first kiss, despite the uncertainty.

There is a possibility it won’t all work out in the end though as Charlotte begs George to ‘fight with me’ and ‘fight for me’ after fans learn he has a giant secret.

The trailer ends with Queen Charlotte telling King George: ‘It is you and me forever.’

It comes after the next series of Bridgerton has been plunged into chaos after bosses thought that some of the storylines had gone ‘too dark’.

Sources working on the production of the Netflix bonkbuster say that some of the scripts have had to be rewritten as Shonda Rhimes, the programme’s producer, wants to give viewers more joy.

It is understood that there were concerns over a sex plotline.

It was reported last year that Ms Rhimes has been joined by another executive producer, Jess Brownell.

One source told The Mail on Sunday: ‘Filming has been delayed due to the screenwriter not being happy with the direction of it.

‘We have been told that it needs the fun back so there are changes, which of course means delays. One thing is for sure though, the production team want to get it right for Bridgerton fans so they enjoy it as much as they have in the past.

‘There are some elements that Shonda is just not happy with so wants to change them. Some of it got very dark.’

It was announced in 2021 that there would be a third and fourth series of Bridgerton following the success of the first two. The show is based on the series of romantic novels by American author Julia Quinn.
