Home and Away producers reveal secrets behind stunning moment fan favourite is blown up by explosion

Home and Away viewers were stunned when fan favourite Kyle Shilling’s character Mali was shown being blown off his feet by a violent explosion in an episode earlier this month.

And now producers have released behind-the-scenes footage that uncovers the ingenious special effects involved in creating the graphic sequence.

The clip, released to TikTok, shows the effect of Kyle being blown up was done by having the 28-year-old actor use a small trampoline to launch himself into the air.

Gym mats were used to protect Kyle from injury, as the actor was then seen falling through the air and landing on his back.

Meanwhile, a ‘flash’ lighting effect was used to simulate the bomb blast.

A large blue screen was also used so that Kyle’s fall could then be ‘inserted’ into a scene of an actual explosion.

Fans took to social media to praise the creators behind the violent scene.

One viewer messaged: ‘This is awesome to see behind the scenes and how it all works! Thanks for sharing.’

‘Oh this so so cool!’ another fan gushed.

‘So interesting to see how it all comes together behind the scenes,’ another viewer added.
