Kerry Washington took to Instagram on Wednesday to celebrate her mom Valerie Washington’s birthday with a sweet video.
The Scandal star, 45 – who recently celebrated Christmas eve with a medley of holiday songs – shared a rare clip of her with both Valerie and her father Earl Washington, writing, ‘Cheers to you, Mom. Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!! I love you!!!!!’
She also took to her Stories to champion her mom’s favorite cause and ask fans to donate to the Bronx Children’s museum for her special day.

‘So do you have any resolutions or goals going into this new year of your life?’ the star asked her mom.
‘I do, I do. But first I need my glasses,’ Valerie replied, handing a confused Kerry a pair of her reading glasses.

Washington has been spending plenty of time with family during the holidays, and was seen making a rare public appearance with her husband of nine years – The Good Nurse actor Nnamdi Asomugha – to Kenny Leon’s Broadway revival of Topdog/Underdog at the John Golden Theatre in Manhattan last Tuesday.

The Reasonable Doubt producer-star and the 41-year-old Emmy-nominated producer are proud parents of eight-year-old daughter Isabelle Amarachi and six-year-old son Caleb Kelechi.
Kerry will next play relationship therapist and single mom Paige Alexander opposite Delroy Lindo as her ex-con father Edwin Alexander in Tracy McMillan’s semi-autobiographical eight-episode comedy Unprisoned, which premieres next year on Hulu.
Washington and the 70-year-old Tony nominee also serve as executive producers on the project headed up by showrunner Yvette Lee Bowser, which also features actors Faly Rakotohavana and Jordyn McIntosh.
