The tweet was accompanied by a snap of a sword leaning on some obsidian rocks.

Petras shot to worldwide prominence thanks to her appearance on Unholy, which was released in September 2022 as the second single from Smith’s fourth studio album, Gloria.

She made music history on February 5 when she became the first transgender woman to win Best Pop Duo/Group performance at the Grammys.

During her emotional acceptance speech, German singer-songwriter Petras thanked pop music icon and LGBTQ+ advocate Madonna, and paid tribute to the late artist SOPHIE for inspiring her.

She said: ‘I’m the first transgender woman to win this award; I want to thank all the incredible transgender legends before me who kicked these doors open.’

‘SOPHIE especially, my friend who passed away two years ago who told me this would happen and always believed in me. Thank you so much for your inspiration, SOPHIE. I adore you and your inspiration will always be in my music.’

She continued by thanking Madonna ‘for fighting for LGBTQ rights’ and then turned her attention to her own mother.

In July 2022, Petras confirmed her third studio album Problématique had been scrapped.

The next month many songs believed to be on the album leaked online with Petras tweeting: It’s ok if u wanna listen to the leaks… I’m not getting to put out any music anyways I’m f****d.’
