Logies host Sam Pang reveals he will target former Sunrise host David ‘Kochie’ Koch in his opening monologue at awards show this weekend
Former Sunrise host David ‘Kochie’ Koch could be in for a rough ride during Sunday night’s Logie Awards.
Sam Pang, 49, who will be hosting TV’s night of nights, has revealed the Channel Seven star will be on the receiving end of his quit wit during his opening monologue.
Gold Logie winner Hamish Blake and the cast of Channel Nine’s controversial reality hit Married at First Sight will also be in the firing line.
‘They’ll be respectfully acknowledged,’ Sam said of the MAFS cast in an interview with News.com.
As for Kochie, who left Sunrise last month, Sam joked: ‘He’s just retired after 21 years, so I’d like to pay a proper tribute to him.’

‘He’s the reigning Gold Logie winner, so he’ll probably get a mention,’ he added of Hamish.
Elsewhere in the chat, Sam revealed a number of his showbiz mates told him to turn down the Logies hosting gig, which he accepted officially last month.
‘I sought the counsel of some very close confidants,’ he said.
‘I spoke to Santo Cilauro, I spoke to Glenn Robbins, Rob Sitch, Kitty Flanagan … and they all said, “don’t do it!'” But I ran my own race and decided to do it anyway.’

Known for his sharp tongue, Pang also revealed he was working with a team of comedy writers for his Logies appearance.
Pang was chosen as this year’s host after he made a surprise on-stage appearance at last year’s ceremony to accept Logie award for Most Popular Actress on behalf of his friend Flanagan, who could not attend.
‘Kitty would be mortified she’s won this award considering all the nominees, she’ll be happy to know it wasn’t a very popular win in the room,’ he said during his speech.

‘Firstly I just wanted to say I had a small part in season one of Fisk, this will be the first time a speech was longer than the role. Not invited back for season two, but that doesn’t matter.’
The Logies will be held in Sydney this year for the first time since 1986.
The awards show has been held on the Gold Coast since 2018 with support from the Queensland government, but that deal ended in 2022.
The ceremony will be broadcast by Seven network on July 30.
