Witnesses do not celebrate Christmas or Easter because they believe that these festivals are based on (or massively contaminated by) pagan customs and religions.

He told the publication: ‘I grew up in a strict household of Jehovah’s Witnesses. We didn’t celebrate birthdays or Christmas or anything like that.’

Peter said that while he is no longer part of the faith he still respected everything he learnt during the childhood.

Going on to say: ‘But one of the things is a lot of people say is: ‘Do you feel you missed out’ and I say: ‘Well, you don’t know any different’.

‘But, now the kids are going through it I get to live it through them and it’s beautiful’.

Admitting that it may now be ‘even more special’ because he experiences things for the first time along with his offspring.
