Riley Keough said she told a lie that she could sing when she was being cast in her new series Daisy Jones and the Six at the Four Seasons on Monday.
The 33-year-old actress appeared on a panel during a screening of the Prime Video show in New York City at the 92nd Street Y, where she made the confession about how her audition went, People reported.
‘I think I blacked out on that meeting,’ Keough, the daughter of the late Lisa Marie and Danny Keough, said at the event. ‘I don’t really remember what happened. And then I auditioned like everybody else, and lied to them and told them l could sing.’
Keough has been on a promotional tour in support of the new 10-episode Amazon Prime miniseries, which focuses on the 1970s music scene in Los Angeles and is loosely inspired by Fleetwood Mac.
The trek in support of the show has been amid Keough’s ongoing rift with grandmother Priscilla Presley over her late mother Lisa Marie Presley’s will.

Keough, the granddaughter of the Elvis Presley, has no prior professional experience in music.
On the panel, she said that she was not familiar with the 2019 novel Daisy Jones & the Six from author Taylor Jenkins Reid.
‘I hadn’t read the book and my agent called me and she said, “Hello Sunshine is making a show called Daisy Jones & the Six,”‘ Keough said. ‘And in that moment … I had like a weird cosmic dropdown. It was like, “You’re gonna be Daisy in this show.”‘
She continued: ‘I didn’t know it was based on the book. I didn’t know anything about it. But then I got the book. I read the book, I listened to the audiobook and I fell in love with it like everybody else.’
Executive producer Reese Witherspoon, 46, told the publication said that Keough ‘utterly transformed for this role’ in ‘amazing’ fashion.
‘In real life, I mean, I need to set this distinction – she’s very quiet,’ Witherspoon said. ‘She’s a very quiet, reserved person.’
The star’s costar Sam Claflin, 36, credited Keough as ‘a joy to work with’ to the magazine.
‘In truth, I couldn’t have asked for a better teammate,’ said Clafin, who plays Billy Dunne on the show. ‘As much as she had that reputation in her family genes, she didn’t come with much musical experience herself, so the two of us had each other to lean on in that way.’

The actress lost her mother Lisa Marie Presley last month, after she suffered cardiac arrest at her Calabasas, California home in January. She has also been locked into a bitter feud with grandmother Priscila Presley over the will that Lisa Marie left.
The dispute stemmed from both Keough and her brother Benjamin being named trustees to Lisa Marie’s estate in 2016, after she was the sole trustee for years.
Benjamin died by suicide in 2020, meaning the fortune now belongs to Keough. Priscilla is contending the 2016 amendment and has questioned the authenticity of her late daughter’s signatures on the document.
‘Riley has been mourning the loss of her mother and is heartbroken to have to deal with a trust dispute with a family member,’ an insider told ET.

The show is based on the New York Times bestselling novel, also starring Suki Waterhouse, Camila Morrone, Sam Claflin, Sebastian Chacon, Josh Whitehouse, Nabiyah Be and Tom Wright.
The series will feature 24 original songs written exclusively for the series and recorded by the cast. The original music will be released by Atlantic Records during the rollout of the series.
The series will debut March 3, with new episodes released every Friday through March 24.
