A bold member of the Britain’s Got Talent auditions audience attempted to shame Simon Cowell during Saturday night’s episode.

The music mogul, 63, made his return to television screens this weekend as the head judge on the ITV talent show for the third instalment of this year’s series.

But one person who was sitting behind Simon in the crowd at the London Palladium as auditions got underway attempted to leave him red-faced as they heckled him.

The first act of the episode was Accordion Ryan, a US native who told Simon and fellow judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli, that he was living in Vienna, Austria at the time of the auditions, where he worked as an English teaching assistant.

Ryan had come over to the UK from Europe to try out for the £250,000 prize and the chance to appear at this year’s Royal Variety Performance, prompting Simon to ask: ‘So how did you get from there to there to here?’

But Simon’s innocent question left one member of the audience baffled, causing them to shout at the top of their voice: ‘Plane!’

The seemingly obvious answer led Amanda to cackle beside him as the rest of the audience chuckled along.

Shrugging off the momentary chaos, Simon hit back: ‘I know by plane!’

It comes after it emerged a Britain’s Got Talent star is set to make a welcome return to the ITV show.

Ashley Banjo has revealed that he and Diversity, who won the talent programme in 2009, are set to perform during one of the live shows this series.

The dance troupe have performed on the show a number of times over the years, including that controversial BLM-inspired routine in 2020, with member Perri Kiely remarking they have no plans to ‘break tradition’.

Their comeback comes amid reports that judge Amanda Holden is reportedly considering quitting the UK and moving to the US after visiting the set of America’s Got Talent.

It is said that the TV star is considering a move to Hollywood after spending two weeks meeting producers in Los Angeles.

And while her future on the show may be up in the air, Ashley shared that he and his group are looking forward to heading back to the BGT stage.

He told MailOnline: ‘I’m sure we’ll be back this year – we’ve performed on Britain’s Got Talent and Any Got Talent more than any other act around the world. So we’re looking at going back.’

While Perri added: ‘At this point it would be weird to break tradition and not go back, so I feel like it would be nice to get back on the stage where it all began.’

And despite always pulling off flawless performances throughout their almost 15 year career, Perri admitted that they still get nervous when it comes to performing on the live stage.

He shared: ‘I’m nervous every single time, it’s probably once of the most nerve-wracking performances that we do. Every single time, I get nervous for every performance but when you’re back on BGT you almost have a point to prove.

He went on to add that it’s ‘crazy’ that they’ve continued to come back almost 15 years on from winning the show, adding that each time they want to prove that they ‘deserved’ to be there.

The dancer went on to say that he’s ‘gassed’ to take to the BGT stage once again, confirming that fans will see them ‘at some point this series’.

Meanwhile, while Diversity’s comeback is confirmed, what they’ll be actually performing hasn’t quite been set in stone.

Perri joked that he ‘wishes’ that they were prepared, but at this point the routine was still in choreographer ‘Ashley’s head’, noting that the group will probably perfect their performance just a week before the show.

Britain’s Got Talent continues next Saturday on ITV1 at 8pm.
