The Block season 19 has wrapped on filming and officially entered post-production, with hosts Scott Cam and Shelley Craft making big promises for the 2023 series.

After a massive year of building topped by a controversial auction last season, the next line-up of contestants can expect an even tougher go at the competition.

With $100,000 prize money up for grabs, contestants will be put to the test as they’re tasked with building a separate granny flat in addition to family homes.

‘This series is guaranteed to be a dead-set blockbuster. Our five new teams from across the country are all fired up to make their home states proud,’ Scott, 60, said.

‘But wait until you see their shock when they find out they’re building not one, but two new abodes, as we throw in a granny flat for good measure.’

According to co-host Shelley, 47, extra accommodation isn’t the only thing which should worry this year’s contestants.

‘This series’ houses may seem charming on the surface, but our contestants will be in for a shock as they uncover a host of pitfalls not evident upon first inspection,’ she said.

‘While there are plenty of laughs to be had, viewers can expect an equal number of tears.’

This year’s season of The Block wrapped filming two weeks ago with final touches and judging of the Charming Street adobes completed in Melbourne’s Hampton East.

And it seems season 19 made a significant impact on the contestants, prompting them to adopt a unique way to remember their shared experience.

During the last week of filming, and before the end-of-season festivities began, it’s understood that the five contestant teams decided to get matching tattoos as an enduring memento of their journey on the show.
