Tori Kelly’s husband André Murillo shared a mostly positive update on her condition on Wednesday in the wake of her shocking collapse over the weekend.
The retired basketball player shared in a text post in his Instagram Stories that his wife was ‘smiling again’ and was getting ‘stronger.’
However, he cautioned his followers that she was ‘not out of the wood’ just yet and still had some healing to do.
She was rushed to a hospital in Los Angeles on Sunday after she collapsed in the middle of a dinner.
Doctors subsequently determined that she was suffering from life-threatening blood clots in her legs and lungs.

In his text post, André wrote that Tori was ‘smiling again and feeling stronger,’ adding that she was ‘Not fully out of the woods but we see the sun.’
He added that they were ‘just waiting on a few more answers.’
The former athlete concluded the update with words of thanks for Tori’s fans: ‘Your love and kindness has been overwhelming. Thank you so so much! ❤️.’
Although he didn’t include any photographic proof of Tori’s condition, she is reportedly still staying at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where she was initially taken by her friends on Sunday.
André previously responded to the medical emergency with a concerning Instagram post featuring the audio of Tori’s verse on Justin Bieber‘s song Where Do I Fit In, which includes the poignant lyrics: ‘When I’m all alone and fear is all I see / Sitting in the silence with these insecurities / It’s then you remind me, you’re holding me tight / And you love me completely, you’re always by my side.’
He and Tori were married in 2018. So far, neither has commented on what condition she is suffering from.
However, sources told TMZ on Monday that doctors were treating her for blood clots around vital organs, with one source describing her condition as ‘really serious.’
According to the publication’s sources, the songstress was dining out with friends when her heart suddenly began to beat abnormally fast.
After she made her friends aware of the problem, she reportedly passed out, with one source saying that she was ‘out for a while.’
Although it’s recommended to call 911 immediately as a medical emergency occurs, the sources claimed that Tori’s friends worried she wouldn’t get the proper care at a local hospital in Downtown Los Angeles.

So instead, they allegedly carried her to a car and sped to the more prestigious Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Tori is now reportedly being cared for at the intensive care unit, where doctors have located clots in her legs and lungs. She has reportedly been conscious at times during her ongoing hospitalization, but her condition and prognosis are unclear.
While blood clots are necessary for the body to stanch bleeding and heal, they can also block normal blood flow, a condition known as thrombosis. Deep vein thrombosis occurs when a blood clot occurs in one of the body’s deep veins, according to the Mayo Clinic.
The clots can then travel to other organs, causing more serious problems. A pulmonary embolism occurs when a clot travels to the lungs and gets stuck, where it blocks off much-needed blood flow to the organ.
Kelly first gained prominence appearing on American Idol’s ninth season in 2010.
Her biggest commercial success came with her 2015 debut album Unbreakable Smile, which spawned the singles Nobody Love, Should’ve Been Us and Hollow.
She has won two Grammys from five nominations, winning both awards in 2019, with one for Never Alone, in the category of Best Gospel Performance/Song; and for Hiding Place in the Best Gospel Album category.
In March, she released her latest single Missin U ahead of the July 28 release of her forthcoming EP Tori.
She’s currently slated to appear on Friday, July 28, at The Roxy in West Hollywood to commemorate the release, but it’s not clear if the event will go on in a different form is she is still to unwell to make an appearance.
