The Gunners are looking at bringing in a new goalkeeping option this summer to compete with long-standing no.1 Aaron Ramsdale.

Raya has proven his worth at the Bees for the past four seasons, keeping 54 clean sheets in 161 senior appearances.

The Spaniard’s quality has clearly caught the eye of Arsenal ahead of the new season as they eye another Premier League title charge.

However, their opening offer for the 27-year-old is set to be rejected by the west London outfit.

Brentford have been holding out for a fee of £40million and the Gunners’ opening offer falls short of their valuation.

Arsenal may no longer face Premier League competition as Chelseaclose in on the signing of Brighton’s Robert Sanchez.

Negotiations between the Gunners and Brentford are set to continue, with both parties keen to do a deal.

Should he sign, he would be the fourth new arrival at Mikel Arteta’s side during the summer so far.

Kai Havertz was the first to put pen to paper on a deal at the north London outfit, with Jurrien Timber following suit.

Arsenal then completed the club record signing of Declan Rice in a deal worth £105million, taking their spending north of £200million.

The Gunners return to competitive action on Sunday as they face Manchester City in the Community Shield, live on talkSPORT.

Premier League football then makes its comeback at the Emirates Stadium next Saturday when Arsenal host Nottingham Forest.
