Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk is a player that Bayern Munich did consider signing in the January transfer window.

That is according to fresh speculation in the media.

Mykahilo Mudryk, 23, is struggling to set the world alight in Chelsea colours.

The left-winger’s scored four goals in 24 Blues appearances so far this season as he struggles to nail down a permanent spot in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting line-up.

Interestingly, he was on the radar of Champions League and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich last month.

The Athletic has explained that German powerhouses Bayern were forced into a predicament recently following a serious knee injury to their star winger Kingsley Coman.

It is understood that the Bavarians looked across the transfer market at possible loan options to fill the void.

The report says that Chelsea’s Mudryk was ‘briefly considered’ by Bayern.

Eventually, the Bundesliga champions signed Bryan Zaragoza on loan from Granada.

Bayern Munich considered Mykhailo Mudryk

It would’ve been a quite stunning move for Mudryk if he ended up moving to Munich.

Instead, the Ukraine international needs to focus on trying to find consistency and form for Chelsea during the second half of the season.

He’s got some superb individual attributes when you look at him as a player, but the facts are he’s still incredibly raw. If he’s failing to meet the demands of Chelsea supporters, we think the Bayern fanbase would’ve eaten him alive.

Speaking on the London Is Blue podcast last month, Pat Nevin suggested that Chelsea do need to stick with Mudryk. Nevin said: “I have great hopes for Mudryk. Remember, Arsenal wanted him, other teams wanted him. Remember, we did have De Bruyne, we did have Mo Salah. It wasn’t working for them. It sometimes takes some players that little bit longer than others.”
