Bitconned was released on Netflix on January 1 and has already amassed an impressive 100 per cent positive rating on reviews aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

The series chronicles the cryptocurrency craze of the late 2010s and centres specifically on the Centra Tech scandal in 2017 which was a company operating in Florida.

Directed by Bryan Storkel, also known for The Legend of Cocaine Island, the show stars real life businessman Ray Trapani, who openly boasts that he dreamt up the entire scam.

In the documentary he said: ‘Crypto [was] just this new unfound territory, completely unregulated by the SE. Anytime you find a market like that, you just have to figure out how to exploit [it]’.

Fans were shocked by Ray’s candour, with viewers describing the Netflix original as ‘insane and wild’.

Despite having been out for less than a month, it has achieved a 100 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
