Chelsea star Levi Colwill may still be in contention to return from injury in the upcoming fixture against Crystal Palace.

The Blues travel across London on Monday night to face Palace in the Premier League, which feels like a very important game for both sides.

Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino held his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon with the media.

Interestingly, Levi Colwill hasn’t been ruled out of the Palace showdown.

The 20-year-old defender has missed the last four games with a hamstring injury, but it sound like he’ll have a late fitness check over the weekend.

Speaking in Friday’s press conference, Pochettino provided an update on Colwill.

“Levi Colwill, we need to wait until Sunday to see if it’s possible to be available [against Palace],” Pochettino said, as quoted by Chelsea’s official YouTube channel.

Also, the left-footed centre-half wasn’t listed on the club’s injury list on their official website.

It’ll be a significant boost if the England international is back fit and available for a few day time.

Let’s hope Colwill comes through a fitness check on Sunday and can return for Palace.

We think the centre-back’s stock has risen in the games he’s not played. Aside from the outstanding cup win over Aston Villa in midweek, Chelsea’s defence has looked particularly vulnerable without Colwill.

Pochettino’s side have conceded eight goals across the two most recent league outings, so they really need to address that form in the top division.

It does seem like people forget this is Colwill’s debut season in Chelsea’s first team. Overall, he’s been one of the squad’s stronger performers, despite playing out of position at times as left-back cover.
