A teenager is facing court after a fight broke out and a grandfather’s crutch was allegedly stolen in Sydney’s west.

It’s alleged the fight was between two groups of students at Fairfield train station about 3.30pm on Wednesday.

A 75-year-old, who was looking after his young grandkids, allegedly had his crutch stolen so it could be used as a weapon.

He suffered a cut to his arm while the fight was occurring.

“A crutch was taken from a man who was at the station and used during the altercation,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“Police were notified, with officers attached to Cabramatta Police Transport Command commenced an investigation.”

Police confirmed they arrested a 17-year-old boy at a Cabramatta home about 4.45pm yesterday.

“He was taken to Mount Druitt Police Station and charged with affray and armed with intent commit indictable offence,” police said.

He was refused bail and was due to face the children’s court today.
