Ben Foster has made his score prediction ahead of Chelsea’s showdown with Liverpool this weekend in the EFL Cup final.

Liverpool and Chelsea meet again this Sunday afternoon in the League Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

Unfortunately, the Blues have lost their previous five consecutive visits to Wembley for domestic cup finals.

With Mauricio Pochettino’s side languishing in mid-table in the league, there’s extra importance going into the weekend to try salvage the campaign.

It was a close 2-2 draw when the teams met on the opening day of the league season. However, the most recent meeting, which was only a few weeks ago, saw Liverpool run out 4-1 winners over Chelsea at Anfield.

While speaking on his own YouTube channel this week, Ben Foster predicted the result for Liverpool versus Chelsea.

He’s gone for a repeat of both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup finals of 2022, with Liverpool beating Chelsea via penalties during both.

When predicting the League Cup final result, Foster said: “I’m going to throw a cheeky little 2-2 draw, penalties, Liverpool win. [Caoimhin] Kelleher the hero.”

Meanwhile, speaking via Sky Sports a couple of days ago, Gary Neville said Chelsea do have “a real chance” of winning against Liverpool.

Liverpool vs Chelsea

We rate Chelsea as the underdogs going into Sunday’s game, but the team’s recent run on the road should give them some real encouragement and belief.

Pochettino’s team have won away at Aston Villa and Crystal Palace very recently, plus they were excellent for large spells of last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Manchester City.

Now there’s a spine beginning to click into place for the Blues, they should be able to ask questions of an impressive Liverpool outfit.

Speaking via talkSPORT recently, Alan Pardew said Chelsea attacker Nicolas Jackson may be the key to beating Liverpool. Let’s hope there’s several heroes wearing blue this weekend that step up to earn Pochettino his first ever trophy as a manager in English football.
