Scott Minto has made his score prediction ahead of Chelsea against Newcastle United on Monday night.
Chelsea host Newcastle in a couple of days time at Stamford Bridge for a Premier League match.
For the Blues, they go into this weekend’s round of fixtures 11th in the league table. They could even drop to 12th and behind local rivals Fulham by the time they take to the field on Monday evening.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are still somehow within touching distance of the European positions, but they’ll need to finish this season with the kind of consistency that’s evaded them this year to salvage the 2023/24 campaign.
Incidentally, there’s still the FA Cup quarter-final at home to Leicester City this month that keeps some further hope in the season.
Former Chelsea player Scott Minto has made a bold prediction of a 3-1 home win for the Blues over Newcastle.
“I wrote down lots of scorelines and threw them up in the air and close my eyes to pick this one. I have no idea what Chelsea side are going to come out. Even Newcastle are becoming inconsistent now as well,” Minto told talkSPORT (2:59pm, 8 March).

“Maybe it’s the heart ruling the head here, I’m going to go 3-1 Chelsea.”
Meanwhile, speaking via BBC Sport this week, Chris Sutton has also predicted a Chelsea victory against Newcastle.
Chelsea vs Newcastle
Chelsea took a 4-1 pasting from Newcastle during the reverse fixture earlier in the season, so the Toon are bidding for a rare league double this weekend against them.
However, the top-flight rivals also faced off in the League Cup quarter-finals back in December at Stamford Bridge. A close affair finished level after regular time before the Blues won the lottery of a penalty shootout.
These are two of the clubs in the Premier League this year proving the hardest to predict because both can go from the spectacular to the shocking on a game-to-game basis. It makes Monday’s showdown a compelling one for any neutrals.
If Pochettino wants to turn this season around, it feels like the results need to start coming now with a run of consecutive wins and performances.
