Mauricio Pochettino will be looking to the likes of Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling to win Chelsea the Carabao Cup final today.

However, former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy thinks Enzo Fernandez can also cause his old side problems at Wembley later.

Murphy discussed both Fernandez and Alexis Mac Allister in his Daily Mail column ahead of Chelsea and Liverpool’s League Cup final clash.

The former has shown a lot of attacking quality of late, scoring in recent wins against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.

Mauricio Pochettino will be desperate for more of the same at Wembley this afternoon.

Enzo Fernandez has more goals in him

Murphy is confident that Fernandez is capable of scoring more goals after his strikes against Palace and Villa.

On the 23-year-old and his Argentina team-mate Mac Allister, Murphy said: “With Wataru Endo providing defensive security for Liverpool and Moises Caicedo for Chelsea, both have a real chance to express themselves.

“They will both want to increase their goal output. Mac Allister hit 12 for Brighton last season and I saw Fernandez’s calm finish at Crystal Palace a fortnight ago. He’s got it in him given the licence to express himself. Incidentally, they both scored for Argentina at the World Cup.”

Enzo Fernandez can win Carabao Cup final for Chelsea

Fernandez has the kind of quality that can help Chelsea to beat Liverpool later today.

He is so good on the ball and showed that when these two sides first met at the start of the season.

In the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge, Fernandez made 85 accurate passes, the third most in the game (WhoScored). He also completed two key passes, with only Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai managing more.

Simply put, the Argentina international was excellent that day and if he can put in a similar display at Wembley, it will drastically increase Chelsea’s chance of winning and bringing the trophy back to Stamford Bridge.

Alongside Palmer, Sterling and Nicolas Jackson, Fernandez should be able to cause a Liverpool backline missing Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alisson problems.
