Chelsea may not be able to sign one of their striker targets in the summer transfer window.
Journalist Simon Phillips recently claimed that Chelsea are interested in Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel as they look to bring in a new centre-forward.
However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Tel’s agent Gadiri Camara had a “very positive” meeting with Bayern yesterday, with the German club communicating that they want to keep hold of the 18-year-old.
Tel, who has mostly played as a left winger this season, has made 19 appearances and scored three goals during the 2023/24 Bundesliga campaign so far.
With Harry Kane now at Bayern, the French youngster is not getting too many opportunities up front, but it does not look like that will cause him to look for a move away in the summer.

Following Bayern’s meeting with Tel’s agent, it does not seem like Chelsea are going to be signing the forward this summer.

Honestly, we are not expecting supporters to be fussed. At 18 and already playing in the Bundesliga champions’ first team, Tel clearly has a lot of talent. But at this point, most Chelsea fans will acknowledge that their squad needs more experience.
It is a young group at Stamford Bridge, with the likes of Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill, both 21, already key men for the Blues.
That needs to be balanced with more senior players, otherwise Chelsea risk more seasons in 11th place and cup finals they cannot handle.
Mauricio Pochettino‘s men recently lost to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final despite the Reds missing half of their team and having to use a bunch of kids.
Tel is a talent, but what this season shows is that Chelsea need more individuals in their squad who are capable of making an impact now rather than later down the line.
