Glenn Hoddle is backing one Chelsea target to thrive in the Premier League if he joins an English club this summer.

Victor Osimhen was unable to prevent Napoli from getting knocked out by Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday.

However, the striker did score in the first leg between the two sides, and while he could not follow that up with a goal in the second leg, Glenn Hoddle still endorsed him while speaking on TNT Sports.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Chelsea could sign Osimhen in the summer, though it could come at the expense of strengthening other areas of their squad.

The 25-year-old has scored 13 goals in 24 outings for Napoli this season.

Victor Osimhen a Premier League player

According to Hoddle, Osimhen is perfectly suited to the Premier League.

Discussing the Nigerian on TNT Sports, he said: “He’s a Premier League player looking at him, the style of him as well. But he’s got his hunger back. That’s the main thing. I think now he’s back to his best.

“He’s got the hunger, the movement, he wants to score goals. That’s the big difference, the mindset.”

A Premier League club should sign Victor Osimhen this summer

If a top Premier League club like Chelsea or Arsenal want a new striker, for example, then Osimhen should be high on their list.

The Nigeria international certainly is a good fit for English football. He is very dangerous in the air, something former England forward Gary Lineker recently highlighted.

Osimhen is a brilliant No.9 overall, scoring 31 goals in all competitions last season. If Chelsea can get him, then they have to.

His price tag and potential interest from other clubs, though, will make this a tricky deal for Chelsea. According to the Evening Standard, Napoli will demand for his full £113m release clause to be paid.

It is a lot of money, but Osimhen’s next club, if he does decide to leave Napoli, will be getting a reliable goalscorer.
